Work Project
As an intern for the Senior Advisers, I receive ample opportunities to assist with planning and hosting events. Since the beginning of the school year, we have held four major events. The first event we held was a school wide pep rally. This pep rally began on the first day of school and it was to welcome our incoming freshmen and students who were new to Mifflin. The second event was also a pep rally. This pep rally was to celebrate and show school spirit for the fall and winter sports teams. The last two and most recent was a Royal Assembly and Homecoming. These two events are the most important next to Prom. The Royal Assembly is a Mifflin High tradition and is another school wide function that allows the students to gather in the gym to learn about the Homecoming court and the King and Queen candidates; following the assembly, the students cast their votes. Homecoming is a major dance where we decorate, provide refreshments, hire a DJ, and allows the students to dress up and gather at the dance outside of school hours.
The last event we host which will be Prom, is my individual project. I have to decide the theme, decorations, location, and refreshments/dinner plates. My supervisor will be providing me with information and tips on the next event we are hosting which is a Valentine's Day dance. I will learn to use a purchase order, who thevendors are with Columbus City Schools, and the routes we take to ensure things are approved and in motion.
